JOB TITLE: Financial Aid Advisor
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Financial Aid
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Financial Aid Advisorto work in the Office of Student Financial Services and provide top-notch services to its students. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary career dreams. We’re looking for a Financial Aid Advisor who is passionate about the world of food and is excited to contribute to our growing organization.
Success in this role requires experience in providing the financial aid process to prospective, new and current students. Provide positive direct client services to students, by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and aid application processes.
The Financial Aid Advisoris a key member of our Financial Aid team and reports directly to our Assistant Director of Financial Aid. We support and reward creativity, performance, professional development and team involvement. We also have fun, and eat well, in the process!
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Counsel and advise students and parents on financial aid application procedures and processing requirements
- Review financial aid forms and supporting documents to insure accuracy and consistency
- Conduct mathematical calculations to determine aid amounts
- Determine applicant eligibility and process education loans
- Follow-up on information needed for application completion
- Coordinate with the Admissions Office Representatives providing an effective and seamless student enrollment process
- Maintain files keeping in compliance with Federal and School regulations
- Other duties as required by Supervisor
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS degree strongly preferred
- Two years of experience working in a financial aid office within an educational institution (Preferred).
- Ability to effectively communicate instruction in person, via email and telephone
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
- Ability to function comfortably in a dynamic and highly computerized environment
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- High energy level, ability to work well under pressure
- Highest standards of ethics

The position is full-time and requires flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts,
according to department rotation, which is set in advance.
