DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides comprehensive information on assistance and support services to victims and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides victims, and their families, with support, referrals and information on victim rights, the judicial process, community resources and programs.

Prepares reports by compiling statistics, reviewing data entered, and Report Management System supplements.

Develops and maintains a filing and tracking system covering cases worked, referrals, requests, agencies, and concerns.

Assists with filing Crime Victims’ Compensation Applications on behalf of those victims who qualify through the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

Network with local communities and agencies, victim services organizations, and task forces.

Deliver educational presentations for training and/or generating community interest and support.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science, such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or Counseling.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of professional experience in counseling or related social services work are required.
A Master's degree in a social or behavioral science may be substituted for the experience requirement.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None
- Preference shall be given to bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants.
- Preference shall be given to applicants with prior law enforcement experience.
- Preference shall be given to applicants having investigative casework knowledge.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
