Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the planning of the nutritional program for lunches and implementing the program efficiently
- Preparing the foods and being sure that there is the appropriate food for the ages and diets of each child
- Making sure that the kitchen is maintained in a hygienic, safe, and presentable condition
- The cook will be expected to help in the classrooms from time to time and assist in covering lunches for the teachers
- Reviewing the food program periodically with the owner and director and making any necessary changes
- Providing assistance to the teachers for food and cooking experiences they may wish to plan for their classrooms
- Washing the dishes, cups, pots, and pans and making sure the kitchen is as clean as possible daily
- Emptying the kitchen trash can whenever needed
- Disinfecting the floors and countertops throughout the day
- Unloading and putting away food from shipments when they arrive
