This position, referred to as a “Skipper,” works alongside team members that have intellectual development disabilities (IDD). Skippers contribute to the success of our mission by providing excellent customer service and quality French cuisine, while supporting people with IDD to foster meaningful and independent employment opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Greet guests with a joyful attitude and deliver excellent customer service at all points of service.
- Train and mentor adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Take food and beverage orders using the POS systems.
- Process guests’ payments accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain appearance and cleanliness of location ensuring products are stocked and areas are properly sanitized.
- Prepare and serve coffee and espresso beverages with skill and efficiency.
- Communicate clearly and calmly with team members.
- Able to work under pressure and with a sense of urgency.
- Able to stand on their feet for long periods of time.
- Able to lift and carry over 25 pounds.
- Available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Open the cafe by preparing food and beverages, setting up pastry displays, and setting up cash registers
- Close the cafe by conducting final inventory check, reconciling cash registers, shutting down equipment, and preparing the cafe for the following day.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
- High school diploma
- 3+ years of previous experience as a barista or server in a related position
- Experience working with the Department of Health
- Familiar, comfortable, and compassionate working with individuals with disabilities.
- Experience teaching or training is a plus.
- Food Handler's License
- Attention to detail by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization

Pay: $17.59 - $21.18 per hour
