Summer Camp Counselor – Part-Time
Job Summary:
Implement a structured learning component for the participants in the youth after- summer program, as well as maintaining accurate and timely documentation of all services provided when needed.
Responsible to:
Prevention Program Coordinator and/or Prevention Program Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement a progressive camp program, seeing to the development of the camper mentally, and physically.

Provide opportunities for development of awareness in each camper.

Provide an enjoyable experience for each camper.

Participate in the general planning of the camp program.

Set a good example in promptness, manners, language, appearance, and health.

Set a good example in respect and care for the facilities and the out-of-doors.

Create and maintain group unity by making everyone feel a part of the group.

Contact parents of campers as needed during camp to maintain good public relations.

Always keep the safety of campers in mind. Campers are never to be left unattended.

Keep all equipment in good operating condition and be responsible for returning items to their proper place.

Maintain required program records

Attend staff meetings and trainings

Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff

Assist in maintaining and cleaning of assigned areas.

Report all program and equipment needs to Lead Prevention Specialist and/or Prevention Program Coordinator.

Assist Prevention Specialist staff while participating in their activity.

Report to the Lead Prevention Specialist and/or Prevention Program Coordinator any difficult or unusual situations.

Maintain active communication with program campers to ensure program effectiveness.

Help transport/supervise campers on field trips.

Ensure that permissions slips are present for everyone in the agency vehicle/bus.

Perform all tasks assigned so long as they are in keeping with the mission, purposes and goals of the agency.
Education/Experience Required
Education: High School Student/Graduate or GED or Attending College
Valid ID or Driving License
Good Communication skills
Experience: At least one-year experience in working with youth and/or likes working with youth.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Bilingual a plus
- Good writing/communication skills

Ability to work under pressure to meet last minute program changes
- Ability to relate to others in a positive manner
- Positive attitude towards youth campers
- Flexibility in relations to work schedule

Schedule: Working Hours Monday thru Friday 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Schedule may change based on needs for program)
