PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY
Responsibilities include preparation of daily journal entries; monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns; quarterly regulatory reports; and monthly Sources and Uses and Contingency Funding reports for board meetings. Reconciles correspondent bank accounts and reconciles loan and deposit reports with the GL balance sheet. Manages the accounts payable process and reviews and works morning reports received from the Bank’s core system, including Daily Cash Report, Daily Position Report, etc. Responsibilities include fixed asset tracking, organizing, indexing, and scanning accounting documents, and managing supply orders for the Bank.
Duties also include assisting with the monthly and annual closing of the books process and facilities management including maintenance, repairs, security, and safety concerns. Assists with projects, tasks, and reporting as assigned.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manages the accounts payable process; receives and pays all vendor invoices in accordance with accounts payable procedures.
- Prepares daily journal entries for normal accounting activities.
- Reviews or reconciles reconciliation statements from correspondent bank accounts.
- Reviews and works morning reports received from the Bank’s core system, including Daily Cash Report, Daily Position Report, and others as assigned. Distributes them to the appropriate user groups.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations of loan and deposit beeper reports with GL balance sheet; after department review, makes necessary adjustments.
- Prepares spreadsheets and reports for Sources and Uses and Contingency Funding, including backup documents, in preparation for the Board of Directors monthly board meetings.
- Prepares spreadsheets needed to complete quarterly regulatory reports including Statement of Deposits, Call Report, Reg F, FR2900, and others as required; after CFO review, uploads reports to the appropriate government agencies.
- Prepares various quarterly tax returns for Nevada Secretary of State filings.
- Prepares annual personal property tax return for Clark County.
- Assists the CFO with month-end and year-end closing of the books; initiates journal entries to ensure general ledger balances are accurate; assists with monthly certification of all balance sheet accounts.
- Reviews the Bank’s credit card charges; gathers employee expense reports and documents to support expenditures; processes payments.
- Gathers data and documents needed for various audits and exams; organizes documents in the appropriate share file folders in a timely manner, meeting deadlines.
- Responsible for fixed asset tracking; initiates fixed asset software entries for purchases and disposal of assets; generates general ledger entries to reflect changes and reconciles general ledger balances with software system; prepares depreciation journal entries for the general ledger using depreciation report.
- Responsible for accounting record image scanning; scans and indexes accounting documents and archives paper records.
- Orders supplies for all departments; researches various suppliers to ensure the best pricing; tracks deliveries and disburses items. Shops for snacks and stocks both floors as needed.
- Assists the CFO with facilities management, including maintenance, repairs, security, safety, and all other functions.
- Supports the CFO in any other tasks, projects, or reports where needed.
- Adheres to segregation of duties procedures.
- Investigates and corrects errors and resolves problems within given authority.
- Operates personal computer to create and process reports, research account activity, perform file maintenance, etc. Records, files, scans documents, updates information, and maintains files, copies and faxed documents.

The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.
SECONDARY DUTIES
The position of Senior Accountant performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of Senior Accountant is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
TRAINING AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Federal and state rules and regulations require that the bank provide mandatory training sessions covering general banking topics, human resource compliance, and information security and confidentiality. In addition, other regulatory training classes are assigned to employee’s specific job functions (e.g., lending, operations). The sessions are assigned annually, and completion is tracked by the BSA / Compliance Officer, Human Resources Manager, and Information Security Officer / IT Coordinator. Non-completion or non-passing scores of the required sessions may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
In addition to the mandatory training program, the bank provides recommended and elective training sessions to assist employees in their career development.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The environment for this position is a clean and comfortable office area, allowing the incumbent freedom to move about at will. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The incumbent while performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, computer terminal, and related printers, or other equipment as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or technical trade school and two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Work related experience must consist of accounting and finance duties. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
- Solid knowledge of laws and regulations relating to accounting and GAAP guidelines.
- Solid knowledge of bank accounting policies, procedures, and programs.
- Intermediate math skills: ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Intermediate computer skills, utilizing core system applications, word processing and industry specific software applications, and internet skills; proficient working skills in spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to exercise good business judgement and discretion to maintain absolute confidentiality over customer finances and other Bank business activities.
