Summary/Objective:
The Lab Manager is responsible for a team of technicians performing the analyzation of filter bags to evaluate damages, condition, and composition.
The Lab Manager reports current KPIs, developments and achievements to the Director of Environmental Services making sure the strategic goals are attained. Additionally, the Lab Manager ensures the testing processes are improved to meet the business requirements and are conducted in a safe manner.
We offer a worldwide network of industry experts at our 15 international production and service facilities. The Lab Manager is expected to exchange knowledge and use this network to continuously improve the lab testing practices.
Essential Functions
- Supports sales team in technical customer consultation, specifically regarding lab testing
- Confirms adherence to and execution of prescribed safety regulations
- Ensures equipment on hand is appropriate to conduct desired tests and maintenance
- Operates custom and special equipment to carry out industry compliant testing activities
- Leads investigations on client/competitor samples to identify filter bag issues and propose solutions
- Manages annual and/or quarterly evaluations of client filter bags to ensure bag integrity and recommended use and maintenance is appropriate
- Develops comprehensive objective reports which clearly explain complex processes and communicate multifaceted findings
- Manages the lab bag testing requests from sales department and provides a weekly updated schedule that includes: bags to be tested, bags currently being tested (in progress), bags with completed test results, differentiate bags tested that the customer will be invoiced, and those that are gratis.
- Identifies the root cause of a filter bag failure and provides possible solutions
- Provides data on filter bag conditions and fabrication quality from competitor’s bags
Qualifications - Education
A bachelor’s degree and/or related quality or engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and related quality experience is required. A minimum of five years’ experience in a quality/lab supervisory or management role in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership skills preferred.

- Experience in handling laboratory, testing and measurement devices (e.g., microscope, tensile tester, particle size analyzer)

- Experience in QA/QC environment and application
- Develop and maintain lab schedule of technical reports due
- Advanced computer usage and typing skills (MS Office)
- Ability to read and adhere to Safety Data Sheet Instructions
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service
- Work independently and complete assignments to suffice specific instructions given, prescribed routines, and standards
- Collaborates well with the team by proactively contributing to group objectives and volunteering to help others
- Knowledge of filtration industry, SAP and CAD are a plus
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a regular, full-time position; 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Working Environment
The analysis function of this position is conducted in a controlled lab environment. Due to the toxicity of some dust exposure, PPE and/or respirators will be required.
Travel
Travelling is not expected in the daily business, however supporting in customer consultation can involve business trips occasionally. Further, utilizing our worldwide company network of specialists may enable the Lab Manager to meet with the specialists in person at the international facility.
