Job Summary:
We are seeking Lead Paint Inspectors and Risk Assessors to join our team in New York City. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments for residential properties associated with New York City Authority. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a passion for promoting public health and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting lead inspections and risk assessments in residential and commercial properties
- Identifying and assessing potential lead hazards and risks in properties
- Conducting visual inspections, collecting samples, and interpreting laboratory results
- Preparing detailed reports that document findings and provide recommendations for lead hazard control
- Communicating effectively with clients, property owners, and other stakeholders
- Staying up-to-date on EPA regulations and guidelines related to lead-based paint
Qualifications:
- Must possess an Interim Certificate from an EPA approved training program or an EPA Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor Certificate.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to lead-based paint.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Must be willing to travel within NYC’s five boroughs.
Preference
- Experience operating a Viken or SciAps XRF analyzer.
- A working knowledge of NYCHA lead paint testing protocol, and HUD lead paint guidelines.
- Knowledge of post abatement dust wipe clearance testing.
- At least one year of experience preferred, but willing to train promising candidates.
- Comfortable with data submission/retrieval via handheld tablet.
- Valid driver’s license and working vehicle.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to carry equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, goggles, and gloves
