The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is currently looking for a full-time physician assistant at our Woodside Office.
As a Physician Assistant in our Orthopedic Department, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including medicine, pre-op and post-op responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will work under direct supervision of the responsible Attending. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Opportunity to work with our board-certified and fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeons, who specialize in hand, sports medicine and trauma.
- Assisting with procedures such as diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections
- Performing initial and follow up evaluations, either independently or in conjunction with the physician
- Ordering and evaluating x-rays, MRI’s and CT’s
- Documenting office encounter notes
- Performing joint aspiration and injections
- Casting and splinting
- Prescribing medications appropriately and manage prescription refill requests
- Ordering and monitoring physical and/or occupational therapeutic services
- Responding to patient phone calls to facilitate patient care delivery
- Educating patients and family on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
- Closing wounds
- Writing post-operative orders
- Completing all necessary paperwork for billing of services.
- Obtaining/maintaining hospital privileges at all hospitals where a practice physician has privileges.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program, required.
- Ability to work effectively and team oriented
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education, required.
- Knowledge of EMR/EPIC
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Orthopedic Surgery, preferred
- Ability to lift patients, 50 lbs or more
- Bilingual is a plus

Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
