General Definition of Work
The executive director of leadership development, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work with extensive decision-making discretion developing, monitoring, and coordinating the district's leadership development plan. Employee is responsible for training and development opportunities for aspiring, novice, and experienced school administrators and district-based administrators that is consistent with the vision and mission of the district and focuses on student achievement. Employee performs advanced and supervisory work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to a wide variety of programs and activities under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage and supervise assigned programs/staff in the district
- Design and coordinate delivery of leadership professional development to ensure current and aspiring district administrators have the knowledge and skills to be successful in their jobs and prepared for career pathways
- Monitor the quality of leadership development programming by collecting, analyzing, and responding to data to ensure expectations of the program are being met
- Oversee and facilitate the professional learning experiences for cohorts of developing leaders using research based best practices
- Manage the process for budgeting for resources to meet the needs for identified leadership training and development activities, including seeking grant funding
- Collaborate with school-based and district leadership to develop ideas, proposals, and meaningful learning experiences for district leaders
- Monitor state and national issues and trends related to school leadership
- Maintain effective and consistent communication with stakeholders related to district, state, and national initiatives
- Provide input and support to division leadership regarding prioritization of professional development needs, evaluation of professional development for administrators, and reviews of current research
- Identify successful leadership development programs and partners that align to the definitions of leader excellence, including other school districts, governmental agencies, institutions of higher education and professional organizations in the area of leadership development
- Support Academics team with planning and logistics for professional development
- Facilitate professional development and attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Perform related work as assigned or required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to school systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of staff development practices, procedures, and techniques
- Comprehensive knowledge on how to utilize appropriate data and information to make leadership development decisions
- Skilled in the use of current software to include word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing applications
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
- Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations
- Ability to develop and monitor a budget
- Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others
- Ability to communicate effectively

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related area required
- Master's degree in School Administration or related area required
- NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience as building or district administrator preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
