The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I in the Sewer Unit of the Public Works and Engineering Department. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker I will perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance of Village sewer systems and related facilities. The Maintenance Worker I will clean and repair storm sewer inlets and may participate in the operation of a hydraulic flusher tuck in the cleaning of sewer lines. In addition, the Maintenance Worker I will perform other duties as assigned.
The Maintenance Worker I must have the ability to respond to emergency call-outs after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. Candidates must be able to participate in snow and ice control operations, special events, or other emergency operations as needed.
The Maintenance Worker I must be able to operate basic equipment and machinery safely. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and least one year of experience in general or municipal maintenance and repair. A valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License Class A with airbrake and tanker endorsements is preferred, or must be able to obtain within six months of hire.
The minimum starting salary for this position is $67,238 (with a full range of $67,238-$90,769) and includes a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan. The normal work hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. for a total of 40 hours per week.
