The Role
The EI Site Reliability Engineering team is looking for a Principal Level Performance Engineer to work with the latest performance testing tools and technologies to ensure Fidelity’s Industry leading platforms are best performing and can scale to meet the needs of the business. This job requires a strong background in performance engineering, and exceptional organizational, analytical, collaboration and communication skills along with the ability to lead, mentor and guide Junior Engineers within the team. The position will support performance engineering function across ECS!
As a Performance Engineer on the team, you will be encouraged to use standard industry methods and tools to tackle complex performance and stability issues and innovate new methods and reports to provide value to the mission.
This responsibility includes collaborating and partnering cross the entire organization which could include third-party vendor partners. As a member of the Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations team the job role is both technically proficient and business oriented.
Team
This position sits within the Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) Operations organization. Our team supports internal customers within ECS organization.
The Expertise You Have
- Establish and improve application performance testing framework and infrastructure and provide actionable metrics/reports to help identify performance bottlenecks/issues
- Detailed understanding of microservices architecture on Docker swarm and Kubernetes infrastructure
- Expertise in crafting performance test cases/suites/framework using performance tools like JMeter or similar tools and implementing via pipeline
- Build and improve standard methodology for performance, Load, Stress, Chaos, along with analytics and reporting based on business requirement
- Expert in building monitoring framework or dashboard for better visibility and observability
- Sophisticated knowledge of the performance engineering subject area.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced dynamic environment and optimally meet challenging deadlines.
- Proven ability to partner with and influence individuals across BU boundaries and at all levels of the organization.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrates positive can-do attitude and flexibility to accommodate evolving needs.
- Organized, flexible, self-starting individual that is very diligent to detail.
- Knowledge and expertise in an Agile way of working.
- Cultivate collaboration by identifying and conveying common interests and priorities (including removing barriers and breaking down silos)
- Applying key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluating impact on quality/efficiency of own work.
- Must be able to multi-task in a self-motivated fashion.
- Triage defects with development partners and project management teams.
- Provide performance tuning recommendations to development teams as needed.
- Ability to work across multiple teams at different levels.
The Skills You Bring
- 5 – 8 years of IT Experience with 5 years in Performance Engineering / Analysis.
- Experience in software performance benchmarking tools (LoadRunner, CloudTest, JMeter, etc.).
- Experience in monitoring and observability tools like Splunk and Datadog
- Experience in migration / tuning cloud-based applications both in AWS and Azure.
- Experience on environment focused on Agile software development, DevOps and CI/CD Pipeline using Jenkins or Gitlab
- Intermediate Experience in creating accelerators using Java/Python language
- Experience in with LINUX/UNIX operating system
- Must have a crisp, clear communications skills to all levels of interaction (technical, non-technical, and all levels of management).
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
