Florida Farm Bureau Federation is currently seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to play a pivotal role in shaping the future growth and success of Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s affiliated companies: Florida Agricultural and Marketing Association (FAMA) and Agriculture Education Services and Technology (AEST). This position is based in Lakeland, Florida.
The listed pay range is the starting salary for the position. In addition, this position will receive an economic incentive based on growth of each of the affiliated companies.

The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and managing real estate assets. The person in this role is expected to have a broad and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the for-profit business of the organization with an intent toward identifying new sales prospects, driving business growth, and requirements for product development. The responsibilities of this position also include managing all company properties and reports directly to the President.
Your key responsibilities include:
1. Business Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan and market strategy to drive business growth and expand market presence.
- Identify and evaluate potential business and real estate opportunities.
- Conduct high level industry research to develop effective sales solutions.
- Conduct high-level industry market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and develop effective growth strategies.
- Drive prospects through to contract award. Includes identifying new customers and markets, developing approaches to the market, identifying prospects, and proposal preparation.
- Drive business growth by building and maintaining high-level contacts with clients, prospective customers and other business and project partners.
- Manage proposal teams and client account managers.
- Negotiate and close deals that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Promote the companies’ products and services to prospective clients.
- Review contracts to ensure compliance with legal and organizational requirements and goals.
- Compose strategic business plans.
- Develop applications and other systems to support business objectives.
2. Real Estate Management
- Oversee and manage the company’s real estate portfolio, including acquisition, leasing, and property management.
- Develop and implement real estate strategies that maximize asset value and return on investment (ROI).
- Evaluate potential real estate investments, conduct financial analysis, and assess risk factors.
- Lead real estate negotiations, lease agreements, and property transactions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
3. Financial Management
- Manage the financial strategies of the for-profit entities of the Federation.
- Develop and manage budgets for business development and real estate activities in conjunction with executive leadership.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and make data-driven decisions.
- Optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effective results.
- Strategically plan and promote the financial health and growth of the for-profit ventures of the organization.
4. Team Leadership
- Supervise the for-profit division directors of FAMA and AEST.
- Lead a high-performing team that will achieve the strategic goals of the organization.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members as well as consistent, constructive feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, and/or finance. MBA preferred.
- Seven years of experience in the area of business development, with a proven track record of achieving growth targets.
- Strong background in real estate management preferred.
- Strong business, financial, and budget management acumen.
- Exceptional negotiation and deal-making skills.
- Strategic thinker with ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry-specific software, platforms, and tools.
