Are you an experienced volunteer program director that’s ready to oversee the development, coordination and management of a new, organization-wide Volunteer Program for one of Massachusetts’ premier social service agencies?
Catholic Charities Boston seeks a Volunteer Program Director to strengthen volunteer, intern, and group volunteerism across their organization. This role will work closely with program staff to identify volunteer opportunities and for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers to ensure that CCB’s programs are effectively supported and delivered.
This position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills to engage volunteers, build relationships with stake holders, and advance the mission of Catholic Charities Boston.
Major Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Catholic Charities program managers and staff to assess volunteer needs and identify opportunities to enhance services through volunteer support
- Design and implement volunteer programs and targeted projects aligned with the agency’s mission and goals
- Develop policies, procedures and guidelines for volunteer participation, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers, including outreach efforts, marketing campaigns and partnerships with parishes, schools and community organizations
- With the Chief Development Officer, establish the Catholic Charities Service Corps to empower individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 to become catalysts for social change within their communities
- Hire, supervise and evaluate the Volunteer Program Coordinator position
- Manage the Get Connected data platform, develop and implement systems to track volunteer activities, hours and impact on program outcomes
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program and identify areas for improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in volunteer management and/or program coordination, including staff supervision
- Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills; ability to implement new ideas and processes effectively
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Understanding of the mission and values of Catholic Charities
- Occasional travel throughout Eastern Massachusetts
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management or related field (master’s degree preferred)
