Position Summary:
Set-up and operate numerically controlled saws for cutting a variety of raw material to customer specific tolerances for further machining processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform skills and competencies as outlined in the NC Operator Skills Matrix at the applicable skill level.
- Sets up and operates all saw cut-off machines to cut material to specified dimensions.
- Follows job order specifications such as material, type and size of stock and dimensions to cut.
- Operate bridge/jib cranes and forklifts.
- Obtains and transfers stock to machines.
- Installs saw blades and wheels, and sets cutting speeds for specified operations. Sets stops, guides, clamps and feeds fixtures to control dimensions of cut using applicable measurement tools to inspect parts.
- Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device.
- Adjusts valves to control flow of coolant against cutting area.
- Starts machines to observe operations.
- Measures work for conformance to specifications.
- Replaces defective cutting blades or wheels whenever necessary.
- Follows blueprints to meet specifications.
- Performs daily scheduled maintenance as prescribed in machine manual.
- Fills and maintains saw machines with the proper cutting oils.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
- Records daily work activity and hours in the ERP system.
- Inspects machined work piece to verify conformance to specifications, using instruments, such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, templates and masterwork piece. Notifies supervisor or team leader if work piece deviates from specifications.
- Performs minor maintenance on machinery and tooling.
- Keeps work area neat, clean and orderly: Lubricates machine daily. Wipes down machinery daily. Puts away hand tools and measuring devices when not in use. Sweeps and mops area around workstation daily.
- Organizes materials to be processed and that are already done at the start and end of each workday.
- Perform work duties according to all safety standards, policies, procedures, and rules as set by federal and state regulations and the Company. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Support the Company’s Safety Initiatives.
- Perform work duties according to, and in support of, organizational quality management system standards.
- Attend and successfully complete training as required and necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Education/Training/ Experience:
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of manual machine tending experience and demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Reasoning ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
- Mathematical ability to calculate various radii and angles. Ability to impart knowledge to fellow co-workers.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in operations sheets and hand sketches.

Pay: $37,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
