Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing the day-to-day preventive maintenance, repair, and fabrication necessary to maintain facility manufacturing machinery including conveyors, grinders, shredders, screens, fans, tools, heavy equipment, etc. The position also performs other maintenance duties as required to promote overall plant productivity and safety effectiveness. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic must have the ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical diagrams and technical repair manuals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the welding, maintenance, and repair of processing/manufacturing equipment: compressors, conveyors, grinders, shredders, screeners, fans, electric motors, electric tools, and air tools.
- Rigging, lifting, and relocating a variety of complex, heavy machines, equipment, and components.
- Operating personal lifts and material handling tools.
- Ensuring manufacturing processes are capable with respect to quality specifications.
- Performing unexpected repairs.
- Performing assigned duties with little or no supervision or instruction.
- Applying knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work.
- Maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Following all safety policies and procedures.
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
- Attending Employee Huddles.
- Position will report to a Maintenance Manager.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Welding and maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical prints, diagrams, and technical repair manuals.
- · Knowledge of machinery and tools used, including: torch/welding equipment, minor electrical work, hydraulics, hand tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and repair as necessary.
- Ability to make steel fabrications via measuring, cutting, bending, and welding.
- Knowledge in the general repair of processing/manufacturing equipment.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and implementation of safety regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees in the facility, both verbally and in writing.
- Willing to share ideas, techniques, and procedures with coworkers.
- Must have own tools and skill in the use and care of those tools.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work up to 10 hour shifts, weekends and overtime
- Ability to bend and stoop frequently
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to reach over head up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to operate motorized equipment safely
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- High School education or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing field and use of equipment.
- Knowledge, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Must be able to follow written instructions, including manuals and manufacturers' service and repair specifications.
Basic math and computer skills are preferred

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
