Job Description
Responsible for repairing and maintaining semi-trucks, trailers, shop work vehicles, and equipment in accordance with operating specifications.
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections, diagnostic tests and test drives.
Safely repair vehicles by performing repairs and replacements to assemblies, components, parts, troubleshooting systems, completing shop operations, and other repairs/maintenance as required.
Routinely perform preventative maintenance to include, but not limited to, installing component/part upgrades, controlling corrosion and completing winterization procedures.
Perform DOT Inspections and Preventative Maintenance.
Ensure all vehicles meet federal/state vehicle requirements by performing system testing to meet standards.
Ensure vehicle’s appearance is maintained by routinely washing, cleaning interior and, as needed, painting.
Accurately maintain vehicle records to include services and repairs, inspections records, etc.
Ensure shop equipment is in safe/operable condition
Monitor costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating and negotiating best price on service and parts.
Maintain supply room by ensuring inventory is accurately ordered, delivered, stocked, neat, and organized.
Continually improve job knowledge by participating in educational and training opportunities and reading technical/regulation publications.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Education Requirements
A High School diploma is required.
Welding experience preferred.
Ability to effectively and efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (HM183, Hazmat) preferred.
DOT Registered Inspector preferred.
Should have at least 3 years of specific heavy-duty work experience.
Must possess current certifications and licenses necessary to safety perform repairs.
Must have valid driver’s license in order to operate company vehicles and equipment.
Maintain knowledge of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and large & small mechanical components.
Must provide own tools.
Exercises good verbal communication to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.
Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
Basic PC skills including all MS Office products.
Sound reasoning skills and ability to multi-task and maintain focus.
Additional Notes
This position will typically work in a shop environment with the potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, chemicals, grease and oil, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with hands in water, and working alone. Transco Logistics will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job. Hazardous Materials and new industry training will be provided.
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
