DSP (Direct Support Professional)
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited too) :
- Responsible for intervention; the process of carrying out a plan of action to resolve a human problem. This element includes but is not limited to the implementation of task analytic training programs, behavior modification programs, participation activities and the charting of resulting data.
- Case management duties include coordinating, documenting and/or reporting all necessary support activities related to client services related to medical, dental, psychological, financial, transportation and day activities.
- Responsible for professional development to apply specialty knowledge to the field or pursuit of training which could be applied to the field by attending in-service training sessions and workshops.
- Assist residence management to maintain a safe and sanitation household for individuals. This includes but is not limited to the purchase and preparation of food (with assistance from individuals in accordance with their ISP’s), recording means consumed and maintaining receipts from petty cash expenditures.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D and experience in the provision of data-based training and supervision to persons with intellectual disabilities and emotional disturbances preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to develop and maintain positive relationships with handicapped adults and provide a positive environmental setting. Also requires the ability to work cooperatively with organizations, agencies and other professional.
- Necessary skills are required to maintain residential and financial records to participate in the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and carry out training procedures.
- Ability to prepare meals and to monitor emergency equipment and supplies.
- First Aid, CPR, TOVA, and Medication Management are required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
- An acceptable Tuberculosis Test/Screening is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
