Under the direct supervision of the Parks Maintenance Operations Manager, or designee. Performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor related to functions in the Parks Maintenance Division of the Leisure Services Department. Assignments include maintaining City parks, grounds, buildings, and recreational areas in accordance with City ordinances and Departmental policies. Requires the ability to be contacted by telephone for call-out after hours. Work is reviewed through observations and obtained results.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates and maintains tractor mower, power mowers, edgers and clippers, and other equipment used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
Duties include mowing, edging, trimming, raking, weeding plant beds, pruning shrubs and small trees, repair sprinkler systems, planting, watering and fertilization.
Prepares clay infields, spiking and digging of ball fields.
Performs fence, carpentry, and irrigation and playground repairs.
Prepares site and equipment set ups for special City events.
Empties garbage cans and picks up trash and debris from City grounds.
Acts as lead worker on specific projects and assignments.
Some evening and/or weekend work will be required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
