JOB TITLE: Animal Shelter Caretaker
LOCATION: SEK Humane Society
REPORTS TO: SEKHS Animal Care Coordinator & SEKHS Animal Care Team Lead
Job Summary
Under the general supervision, maintains sanitary conditions of kennels and provides care for animals within the SEK Humane Society’s animal shelter; and preform related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Cleans & maintains animal kennels and surrounding areas (including floors and hallways) at the SEK Humane Society. This includes an overall upkeep of the shelters facility as assigned.
Practice excellent customer service skills with visitors and customers either in person or over the phone.
Receiving animals from clients and placing these animals into kennels; moving animals from one area to another when inspecting/cleaning cages.
Feeding animals at the SEK Humane Society Shelter.
Cleaning and bathing animals; exercising animals as required.
Inspecting animals for signs of sickness; administering medication to sick animals (training will be provided).
Notify supervisors of any potential problems or needs of animals, property, or co-workers
Other duties within the SEK Humane Society as assigned supervisors.
Follow all confidentiality guidelines set by the SEK Humane Society (this will be given and reviewed by the applicant upon employment)
Staff will be required to attend periodic training sessions provide by the SEK Humane Society
Experience Requirements
Ability to: clean and maintain kennels using appropriate cleaning supplies, equipment and chemicals; feed, move, and handle animals without causing harm or injury to the animal or yourself; follow safety procedures in controlling and handling animals; follow written and verbal instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.

Pay: $9.25 per hour
