The PAIP IPDAV Therapist is responsible for writing reports and submitting reports to the court and/or the probation office. Therapist for co-facilitating abuser groups and works closely with the Clinical Director to develop new groups and refine or recommend new curriculum, as needed. The position reports to the Clinical Director and works closely with all programs.
A Safe Place is a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization listed under Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence Inc.
Position is located in Waukegan, IL.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the client to develop individual service plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling, case management and education to perpetrators of domestic violence.
- Co-facilitate abuser’s groups.
- Conduct victim safety checks as needed and according to A Safe Place procedures.
- Participate in strategic planning process of the agency and assist the Chief Operations Officer to maintain relevant services for intervention with perpetrators of intimate partner abuse.
- Develop and present educational materials to teach non-violent communication and interpersonal relationship skills to abusers in the intervention program.
- Assist in developing and refining abuser program curriculum as requested by the Clinical Director.
- Provide direction regarding the importance of abuser treatment and the need to provide high quality intervention.
- PAIP Therapist provides assessments and case management, including communication with the courts and probation, for persons who abuse.
- Assist in developing, implementing and marketing new groups as needed.
- Refer clients to appropriate community resources.
- Complete reports and recommendations in a timely manner according to A Safe Place procedures.
- Maintain files and keep program statistics in accordance with ASP policies and funding requirements.
- Relate effectively with abuser treatment providers, the court system, and others as an advocate for victim safety and perpetrator accountability.
- Assist with Supervision of staff and interns.
- Represent A Safe Place and the intervention program by attending community meetings as requested by the Director of Programs.
- Build positive relationships with representatives from the judicial and probation systems in Lake County as well as other referral sources.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Attend and participate in required staff meetings, case management and other training and meetings as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters in Social Work, Psychology or closely related field preferred, Bachelors in SW/Counseling with proven experience would be considered.
- Licensure preferred but not required.
- 20 HR PAIP trained strongly preferred.
- 40 hour Domestic Violence trained preferred.
- Bilingual Preferred.
- Knowledge of counseling theories/modalities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to verbally communicate across a wide range of cultural and socio-economic, racial, cultural and experiential backgrounds.
- Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence with experience in group dynamics and educational presentations helpful.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to successfully manage and complete multiple tasks.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word programs.
- Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and week-ends
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
