Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician I
Position Description: The SUE Field Technician I works closely with the SUE Tech II and SUE Tech III to complete assignments in a safe and efficient manner. This position is entry level and requires a self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Responsibilities include a combination of the following, but are not limited to:
Field Work: Assists with field data collection such as painting, flagging and marking position of utilities on the ground, use and set up of surface geophysical instruments and vacuum excavators, and assigned safety related activities. Ability to efficiently assist various field operations, including tracing and marking of utilities, excavation of trenches and or holes to expose utilities, set up of safe work zone and proper maintenance of traffic. Assists the SUE Tech II and SUE Tech III as needed with field activity logs and results, safety forms and permits.
Operations Support: Assist the SUE Tech II and SUE Tech III with appropriate maintenance of assigned equipment, tools and cleanliness, organization and stocking of warehouse spaces. Promotes a sound safety culture based on understanding risks and hazards and taking appropriate action.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Position requires great flexibility, with the possibility of out-of-town travel as needed by specific projects
- Ability to perform physical work and lift and carry heavy equipment when required
- Valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record
- Experience as utility site laborer is a plus.
