About the position
The demand planner's role is multifaceted and involves various responsibilities focused on accurately predicting and managing customer demand for a range of products. This involves analyzing historical data, identifying current trends, forecasting customer demand, collaborating with other departments, monitoring performance metrics, and using technology to streamline processes. Success in this role requires analytical skills, effective communication, adaptability, problem-solving abilities, proficiency with technology, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The position reports to the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning Manager and maintains solid connections with SIOE, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage a rolling demand forecast at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons.
- Validate demand signals through data analytics, using historical data, statistical models, and sales and marketing plans as key inputs.
- Collaborate with Sales partners to collect information on promotions, sales/marketing initiatives, category growth, penetration initiatives, market data, and price fluctuations to improve the model and make better-educated assumptions.
- Ensure new product introductions are properly collected and validated to provide support for future modeling and achieve forecast accuracy objectives.
- Drive forecast accuracy analysis, including root cause and performance problem solving with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and deviations from forecasted results and other disruptions and promptly resolve or make recommendations for any issues.
- Liaise with sales and supply planners to ensure synchronized demand and supply from factories through distribution centers to retail stores and customers.
- Support the SIOP manager with the monthly demand review process as part of the SIOP monthly cycle. This may include preparing all data and metrics for review, identifying gaps and scenarios that must be presented, facilitating decision-making on open items and trade-offs, and ensuring action is taken on agreed-to-action items.
- Develop reports, manage, and improve planning-related key performance indicators, including WMAPE, R-squared, forecast bias, sell-thru, and SKU profitability.
- Perform other duties as needed and directed by management.
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain or related role.
- 2-3 years of experience as a demand planner.
- Proven experience in forecasting techniques and tools.
- Experience participating in SIOP meetings.
- Experience working with a relational database.
- Advanced-to-expert skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, with the ability to efficiently generate complex analytics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
- APICs or IBF certification a plus.
- Experience in automotive aftermarket and surface care, or in retail CPG.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
