Responsible for delivering on engineering responsibilities pertaining to data center technologies and systems that are compliant with company standards, security policies, and best practices in the LKQ data center environments. The technical responsibilities for this position will focus primarily on firewalls, Network Segmentation, and security-related functions, and might include data center routing, switching, load balancing, ACI, and VPN technologies as related to security.
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and upgrade of security-related network equipment such as firewalls, analytics, and proxy devices.
- Monitor network connectivity and ensure high quality data transmission.
- Provide technical security support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/WAN and cloud based networks.
- Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
- Research network security requirements; prepares detailed architectural and installation plans.
- Conduct internal studies of network security and traffic analysis.
- Research problems and evaluate new technologies.
- Meet end user needs by ensuring the security and compliance of the networks managed within established budgets and operational guidelines.
- Determine and diagram the logical layout which documents the communication protocols (e.g., IP, TCP, etc.) and type of service/application (email, file transfer, web browsing, etc.) for each segment of the network.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting and writing basic computer programs to address more complex systems software configuration and enhancement.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
May Perform Other Duties As Assigned For Network Security:
- Perform installation, maintenance, upgrade, and monitoring of single- and multi-factor technologies (e.g., Cisco ISE) and other NAC solutions.
- Monitor firewall activity, IPS and relevant policies to ensure secure data transmissions.
- Protect the firewall infrastructure by implementing best practices and correct hardening standards.
- Review and mitigate vulnerabilities as reported by security vulnerability notifications and assessment reports.
- Determine and diagram the physical layout which illustrates the physical location of and the connections between security devices participating on the network.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Not responsible for supervising employees.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of relevant experience including experience in an environment of comparable size/complexity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIS, JNCIE, NSE, PCNSE or similar.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to utilize network monitoring and analytical tools for troubleshooting.
- May make recommendations for department policies, practices, and programs.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a
computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
- Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%).
