PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide social work services to K-12th grade students under supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions to address specific issues such as self-esteem, stress management, substance abuse/use, and suicide prevention with guidance from a licensed supervisor.
- Manage a caseload under the supervision of a licensed clinical professional.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs with supervisory approval.
- Assist in updating/developing positive behavioral intervention strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention strategies to improve student’s overall success, under supervision.
- Advocate for the emotional, mental and physical well-being of each student with support from a licensed supervisor.
- Collaborate with the Health & Wellness team to ensure program outcomes are met, with supervisory oversight.
- Assist in obtaining student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as necessary, under supervisory guidance, to provide continuity and support to youth who are in need of specialized services.
- Provide case staffing expertise and support.
- Ensure all proper child safety reports are submitted to all required entities, with supervisory oversight.
- Develop methods of tracking the effectiveness of behavior support plans through analysis of behavioral data and make changes to the plan as necessary with supervisory input.
- Host mental health and social emotional programming training across the organization, under supervision.
- Guide staff in supporting student behaviors and implementing socio-emotional learning.
- Implementation, monitoring and supportive planning with the SEL Curriculum, under supervision.
- Advocate for clients to resolve crises and assist them in accessing needed resources.
- Supports restorative practices implementation and provides training for other mental health supports.
- Collaborate with program coordinators and external contacts to develop staff training.
- Coordinate events alongside Coordinators/Directors that showcase mental health and social emotional wellness.
- Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including case notes, treatment plans, events and activities conducted, breakdown of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
Partnership Development
- Develop and manage collaborative partnerships with provider personnel, school administrators, higher education institutions, corporations, civic groups and social agencies within the community with input from supervisors.
- Develop and maintain public relations, promoting and stimulating membership within
Boys and Girls Club of the Bellport Area sites.
- Coordinate all publicity for programs and services within the Club and the community with supervisory guidance.
Relationships:
- Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and publicize sites.
- Collaborate with Club staff, supervisor, teachers, school officials and administrators to ensure student success.
Supervision for License Hours:
- Receive ongoing supervision for licensure hours.
- Confer with the supervisor of program curriculum, staff training and event coordination.
- Engage in regular supervision meetings to review progress and receive guidance.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
- NYS Licensure required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in social services, youth development and/or K-12 Education.
- At least 2 years of non-profit/government experience with similar programs.
- Ability to connect deeply with young people and their families either through candidate’s own lived experience or past experience living/working in similar communities.
- Highly collaborative team player.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/assignments and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
- Flexibility in schedule with ability to support sites as needed.
- Ability to travel outside the community as necessary.
- Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
