JOB SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining information flow in the billing system. This involves processing incoming documentation, inputting data into the system, and submitting claims. This position is responsible for transporting messages, packages, and other items between offices or departments using various modes of transportation, it also entails carrying out daily messenger tasks for the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- In accordance with established departmental procedures, company policies, and insurance contracts, enter, and research claims, request needed information and coordinate with required personnel across departments.
- Refer unusual problems to Billing Manager.
- Prepare billing documentation and invoices to ensure timely submittal to the insurance company.
- Review and proofread all outgoing materials, ensuring their completeness and compliance with company guidelines.
- Work with accounts payable for accurate tracking of posting of account charges.
- Securely delivers packages, documents, written and verbal messages and other items to intended location or recipient in a timely manner.
- Receive/record information regarding messages or materials to be delivered/received with recipients’ responses communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person.
- Sort and load/unload listed goods according to delivery route, ensuring goods are loaded/unloaded correctly and taking precautions with hazardous goods.
- Confer with coworkers to coordinate work activities.
- All other duties as assigned by Billing Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft word & Excel
- Detailed oriented typist
- Vocational training in billing is a plus
- Must clear an OIG Exclusions Search
- Must have a valid Driver’s License, clean driving record and be able to safely operate an automobile
- Must be punctual, organized and possess effective time management skills.
- Must be able to maintain the safety and security of packages, documents, messages, and other items received or being delivered
- Must be able to deliver exceptional customer service while under extreme pressure
- Must be able to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
- Must be able to learn at a faster than average pace
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail, especially when compiling and examining documentation
- Must be able to analyze, compare, and interpret facts and figures, although complex math skills are not necessary
- Must display strong organizational skills especially when working with a range of financial documents for a variety of clients
- Must be able to identify issues in documentation and suggest solutions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, twist and lean up to 90% of the time.
- May be seated for long periods of time utilizing office equipment such as a calculator, cash register and computer and may be required to count, pinch, pick, write and lift up to 30 lbs.
