Level I Installation Technicians (aka, “Helpers” / “Apprentices”): assist more experienced Installation Technicians with site excavation, site preparation, rough-in, fill equipment installation and finishing. Common duties include: gathering materials, parts, tools & supplies to be used on job site; maintaining small tools & equipment; installing, maintaining, repairing & testing fuel system equipment; measuring, cutting & connecting pipe; assisting in lifting, positioning & fastening objects into place; keeping work area, tools, parts, material, supplies & equipment clean, secure & in good order; and performing other routine duties, such as checking for leaks and minor repairs to equipment & switches; disassembling defective equipment and replacing defective or worn parts then reassembling equipment; Moreover, Level I Installation Technicians should understand project plans, schedules, and their specific job duties to complete the project, as well as the roles of other trades on the job site; attend all Company meetings; report to work on time/properly attired, and maintain accurate records of work progress, schedules, time sheets, job cost reports, etc. Apprenticeship training includes JBC “On-The-Job (OJT) Training,” which includes: learning the tools, equipment, parts, and material of the trade, basic mechanical, electrical & hydraulic construction methods, and how to read prints, along with how to plan, layout, rough-in, and complete fuel dispensing system construction jobs. Employees may be expected to enter and work in confined spaces. Age: 18 years of age.
Education Requirements: High School Graduate, GED, or working towards GED.
General Requirements: Good attendance / appearance & personal hygiene / oral & written communication skills; positive attitude; strong work ethic; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time; works well with others; prepare accurate, timely & complete reports; complete tasks with minimal supervision. Proper usage, care, and maintenance of personal tools, Company tools & equipment and other company assets. Attention to detail; good communication skills; basic math skills; confidentiality; protection of company assets.
Experience: At least one-(1) year of previous commercial construction experience performing manual labor, preferably as a pipefitter, or as described above, for more experienced Technicians.
Preferred: More than one-(1) year of industrial and/or commercial construction experience, as described above, along with required classroom training, experience and safety training, a willingness to take on more responsibility. Management / leadership qualities.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid Driver’s License. Blood Borne Pathogen / First Aid / CPR, OSHA 10, HAZWOPER, API Work Safety, along with any other equipment operating, distributor, and industry licenses & certifications. Chauffer’s Driver’s License - Preferred.
Working Conditions:
Work in the field, which may be hot, cold, noisy, windy, muddy, icy, dirty, bug infested, slippery, and -- generally speaking -- dangerous to work in at times. Must be able to carry up to 30 lbs. of tools, climb an OSHA approved site construction ladders. Risk of falling when working at heights, if not properly tied-off; and willingness to use site sanitary restroom facilities.
Work Schedule:
Varies based on workload. Generally, five-(5) to seven-(7) days per week, and up to eight-(8) to twelve-(12) hours per day, and must be able to work overtime on short notice.
May be exposed to outdoor environment, weather, and flammable products on the job site.
May be in contact with employees and/or customers under a wide variety of circumstances.
Must be able to work with fiberglass, fiberglass dust, epoxy resins, flammable solvents while consistently wearing appropriate PPE and taking necessary measures to avoid harmful contact.
Able to handle emergency or crisis situations.
May be occasionally subject to irregular hours.
May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary.
Ability to pass annual physical and periodic drug tests.
