ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Take-off and assemble competitive bids from construction bid documents including architectural, structural, mechanical drawings and specifications using existing Quotesoft estimating software.
- Stays current with material costs in order to address escalation during budgeting of long-term projects.
- Assist in maintaining existing estimating data bases, obtaining and tracking current commodity material cost, analysis and develop pricing trend charts for various materials.
- Develops relationships with represented manufacturers, maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends.
- Communicates with subcontractors and suppliers by obtaining/negotiating prices with vendors for materials and evaluates vendor submittals.
- Documents work by maintaining files for each job including, but not limited to, internal and external customer correspondence to mitigate project risk. Keep accurate database of prospective projects.
- Meets deadlines for proposals and other assigned tasks.
- Responsible for timely completion of final bid and preparation of any submittals.
- Responsible for helping to identify and refine processes to improve the quality and efficiency of the estimating process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES
None required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management/takeoff or estimating roles preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Familiarity with HVAC Systems and reading plans and specs is required.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to read and understand drawings, prepare RFPs, solicit subcontractors, and price material and equipment.
- Experience performing detailed take-offs from drawings.
- Excellent communication both written and verbal.
- Must be self-motivated to achieve annual goals and objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence customer's key decision-maker.
- Must have basic PC experience in Windows environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook), Web-enabled applications and intermediate level experience with Excel. Working knowledge of estimating software (preferably Quotesoft orTrimble).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
