We are looking for an RN with Operating Room and/or PACU experience for our company. The ideal candidate will have a background in cosmetic and plastic surgery. THE POSITION:
As the RN and under general direction from Surgical Manager the RN provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, treatment and evaluation of the patient. The nurse is responsible for delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to patients and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs patient preparation, including but not limited to: review of medical history, acquisition of appropriate consents, measuring vital signs, starting an IV, administering medications, and setting up appropriate monitors.
- Must be able to assist and cover in OR as needed.
- Verifies that essential equipment is functioning properly each day.
- Assesses and monitors patients before, after and throughout all phases of peri-operative period, demonstrating competency with all monitoring equipment.
- Identifies the patient and correct procedural intervention according to policy/procedure and communicates such information to all members of the surgical team.
- Transports and positions patients observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs. Coordinates nursing care in the designated clinical units.
- Coordinates with the Nurse Manager on the delegation of tasks to individuals according to the activities required and staff competency.
- Accessible to staff in clinical area and assists with staff clinical needs
- Monitors to ensure that the clinical area is maintained properly i.e. equipment cleaned and functioning properly.
- Monitors to ensure timely and accurate medical records documentation.
- Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels and cost containment.
- Exhibits flexibility in self schedule.
- Uses nursing judgment in evaluating emergency situations and initiating emergency measures for respiratory and /or cardiac arrest, if necessary.
- Knowledgeable of age specific care.
- Monitors and maintains airway management.
- Monitors and assesses the patient who receives sedation.
- Manages pain and comfort of the patient.
- Maintains patient safety, and ensures a clean, orderly environment throughout the Center.
- And other duties as assigned by management.
- Overnight observation
- Post Op monitoring of patients at the post op recovery center
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
