Reporting to Legal Counsel/Compliance, this position is responsible for contract management, assisting attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support, fact checking and including document preparation, review and editing.
In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the programmatic requirements for ION’s Compliance Program. Particular areas of focus include: compliance training, policy development, exclusion screening tracking, management of investigations and development of programmatic presentation materials. Areas of expertise should include: education development and implementation, strong communication skills, and expert-level functionality with regulatory laws related to healthcare compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities reflect the expectations of this position but are not all-inclusive:
- Contract management: Prepare, organize, electronically store, manage all company contracts and contract data base.
- Draft legal documents, policies and procedures,
- Serve as compliance/legal liaison interdepartmentally.
- Complete necessary research and analysis of statutes, contracts, etc. and provide written analysis.
- Assist legal counsel as needed.
- Support day-to-day compliance matters and policy questions.
- Maintain, develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
- Support compliance training program including: content creation, trainee enrollment, delivery, tracking, reporting and corrective action.
- Conduct and manage compliance investigations and/or assist as needed.
- Support business courtesy expense monitoring program.
- Track the exclusion screening process.
- Maintain progressive corrective action outcomes for training and historical purposes.
- Assist the VP/CCO in the development and creation of Compliance Committee and Board presentation materials, newsletters and compliance communications.
- Assist with development and implementation of compliance program document management and reporting systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience as a legal or compliance professional familiar with the development, implementation and/or sustaining of an effective compliance program
- Functional experience conducting compliance/legal investigations
- Working knowledge of federal healthcare program laws including, but not limited to: Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, False Claims Act & Civil Monetary Penalty Law and CMS regulations
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
